Complete different atmosphere at the upstairs. Food was delicious and service was great. We liked the unique decoration. Burgers were delicious and meat was well cooked. Noticed on the bill that sauces are not free which was a surprise in such a burger place but still deserves the good point.
The food here was really good and a nice concept. We had the bone marrow on toast and the P.F.C. For dessert we had the French toast with salted caramel sauce which was to die for! We sat up in the speakeasy and the waiter was lovely. Really helped us out with the choice of wine and sake, explaining them really well. The only complaint I would have is that it was a little cold inside.
The lamb or (goat?) burger (Big Goat) was delicious. I asked for no sauce (personal preference) and it was juicy just by itself. Good portion for the burger. I was informed the fries were "thicker" than shoestring-style fries but they were quite thin so that was a bit misleading (not a big issue though, I just prefer thicker fries).
I went here with some friends and they mostly enjoyed their meals. Their favourites were the PFC and Le Big Mie. They said the salad was also bomb. We were seated upstairs and we loved the speakeasy vibes. The seating downstairs gives more of "diner vibes" -- depends on what you feel like. We did not make a reservation but were very lucky to get a table for 5. The hostess was lovely. I'd recommend making a reservation in advance though.
Recently visited Paindemie in Amsterdam and it was an absolute delight! Easily one of the best burger spots in the city. While they offer a fast-food style setup downstairs, I highly recommend waiting for a table upstairs. The vibe there is fantastic, resembling a chic cocktail bar with friendly hosts that make the experience even more enjoyable.
For a more social experience, you can also choose to sit at the bar. It’s a great spot to hang out, meet new people, and yes, you can order food there too! Speaking of drinks, don’t miss out on their unique Japanese cocktails – they are a must-try.
The décor of Paindemie adds to its charm. Walking in, you’re greeted with an Asian-style metro station theme. As you head upstairs, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the restaurant with its inviting ambiance. The burgers are not only delicious but also reasonably sized, offering good value for the price.
In summary, Paindemie is a gem in Amsterdam for burger enthusiasts and those looking for a great atmosphere. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
Amazing scenery, the upstairs is beautifully decorated. The service is quick and good. Servers are nice and kind. The quality of the meat is great! The Big Mie is definitely a recommendation!
We went for food and some drinks. It is such a cute place, that consists of two floors. On the first floor you have dinner experience and upstairs, dim lights, dj playing small room, a bit like speak easy atmosphere. They have great selection of wines and spirits. We tried few cocktails and the Yuzu sake is absolutely to die for. Food was also delicious. Great spot for little date, brunch or just meet up with friends. Also we maybe got lucky, but it wasn’t packed so it felt even more relaxing.
Pretty trendy spot. Downstairs has quick and easy vibes, and by the look of it a slightly different menu. Upstairs is a lovely cosy bar. The burgers are goat meat (though you probably wouldn't taste it if it wasn't pointed out) and come in some form of their own bread/buns. Great for a weeknight dinner or an easy catch-up with friends.
Amazing fried chicken sandwich. We were surprised that the burgers are made with goat meat instead of beef, which sounded weird - but it was delicious and didn't taste gamey like other goat dishes I've tried. Even the butter lettuce salad was really good, the sauce on it was amazing. The cocktails were also nice but nothing super special, and they have a good sake selection. The atmosphere is very cosy, with speakeasy vibes. A bit pricey but I'd come back to try other dishes. Friendly service from the bartender.
